Egyptian prime minister Ahmed Shafiq has resigned. The decision & news of Shafeeq's resignation was first announced on the Egyptian ruling military council facebook page this morning.

Ex-Minister Essam Sharaf who resigned from Mubarak's government few years ago has been appointed as a prime minister instead by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.

Sharaf completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Cairo University. was selected by the College of Engineering to be a graduate instructor and continue his career as a faculty member. He completed a master’s and doctoral degree in West Lafayette.

He was named minister of transport by President Hosni Mubarak in 2004 and had become a major force in transportation education, research, and public policy. During his service as transport minister, which concluded in early 2006, Sharaf undertook unprecedented initiatives to modernize Egypt’s transportation infrastructure system.

Sharaf resigned from Mubarak's government a few years ago rejecting corruption in the government especialy after the Qalyoub train incident in 2006.

قدم رئيس الوزراء المصري أحمد شفيق إستقالته صباح اليوم. و قد أعلن عن قرار استقالة شفيق صفحة المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة على الفيسبوك.

و قد عين الوزير السابق عصام شرف الذي استقال من حكومة الرئيس مبارك منذ بضع سنوات من قبل المجلس الأعلى للقوات المسلحة كرئيسا لوزراء مصر خلفا لشفيق.

حصل شرف على درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المدنية من جامعة القاهرة. واختير من قبل كلية الهندسة ليكون معيد دراسات عليا ويواصل مسيرته كأحد أعضاء هيئة التدريس. وأكمل الماجستير ودرجة الدكتوراه في غرب لافاييت.

عين وزيرا للنقل من قبل الرئيس السابق حسني مبارك في 2004 و قد أصبح قوة رئيسية في مجال تعليم النقل ، البحوث، والسياسة العامة. خلال خدمته كوزير للنقل، والتي اختتمت في أوائل عام 2006، أجرى شرف مبادرات غير مسبوقة لتحديث نظام البنية التحتية للنقل في مصر.

استقال من شرف من حكومة مبارك منذ بضع سنوات رافضا الفساد في الحكومة خاصة بعد حادث قطار قليوب في عام 2006.
